Introducing the David Bowie special edition freelancer.
Raymond Weil pays homage to the legendary musician, with this limited edition timepiece, as a tribute to the life and musical career of the most influential artists of all time. Created to celebrate what would have been Bowie's 70th Birthday.
RAYMOND WEIL presents the Freelancer David Bowie – a tribute to Bowie’s love of Art and which depicts three of his most iconic personas through the use of intricate watchmaking techniques resulting in a true masterpiece. The black galvanic vinyl dial is adorned with a red lightning bolt at 12 o’clock, commissioned by Bowie during the Aladine Zane era and that became one of his most iconic features of the imaginary character. The red pop art Bowie logo designed by Andy Warhol for the diamond dogs album is positioned prominently on the dial. The case-back features a sapphire crystal glass with double-sided anti-glare treatment, adorned with a portrait of David Bowie taken by the legendary portrait photographer, Terry O’Neil, who also played a significant role in the design of this unique timepiece and which was taken during Bowie’s Thin White Duke era. The timepiece is completed with a unique Limited Edition number, engraved into the case-back and a certificate of authenticity, signed by RAYMOND WEIL’s CEO and Terry O’Neil.
Hours and minutes are conveyed with barrel-shaped hands, lined with luminescent treatment, aiding legibility in dim light. Silver indices denote the hours and a chapter ring encircles the dial. The RW 4200 movement offers convenience courtesy of automatic winding. The stainless steel watch is presented with a black calf leather strap with coordinating red stitching and a stainless steel folding clasp.
