Q&A Time with Rosemary, Founder of Centred Soul

In anticipation of the event, we had the pleasure of asking Rosemary a few questions about Centred Soul and the upcoming 'She Speaks' evening:

Can you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind founding Centred Soul?

Rosemary: "Centred Soul (CS) began in 2017 after the traumatic birth of my child, Ruairi. My experience with birth trauma and postnatal mental health challenges inspired me to create a supportive space for women. Starting with the Moaning Ma's Meetup, CS grew into a social enterprise in November 2017, providing education and support on birth, perinatal mental health, and trauma. Our colourful coffee house and studio offer a judgment-free space for women to gather, share experiences, and engage in wellness practices. CS celebrates the strength and wisdom of women at all life stages."

What is the mission of Centred Soul, and how do you strive to achieve it?

Rosemary: "The mission is to offer a place where you feel included and safe, where you can talk about taboo topics with people who don't judge, who are dead on and love the craic. No fluff. A place where you can just be yourself and take part in activities and services which also make you feel physically and mentally good, whatever part of life you're at.

We push the envelope by openly discussing pregnancy loss, birth trauma, grief, and mental health, combining these conversations with wellness practices. We believe there's no shame in these experiences and aim to normalise talking about them. We blend conventional and alternative approaches, including yoga, because one size does not fit all—and it's also good fun!

So that's what we do. We pour coffees, offer you a coffee house space and at the same time, we provide counselling, movement, meditation and laughter!"

What do you hope participants will take away from attending this event?

Rosemary: "A raised awareness of what we do, as a social enterprise. Having established in 2017 as a service specifically for those affected by perinatal mental health and birth trauma, it has been difficult to let people know that we offer services now to all women. So it would be wonderful if people left informed, educated and uplifted."
