In ancient times a pearl was associated with the moon and was believed to have magical properties. Pearls are traditionally a milky colour and therefore mimic the appearance of the moon, while they are also considered daughters of the moon in ancient texts.
When thinking of pearls, we associate them with the iconic 20th Century film star Grace Kelly, as she says “I favor pearls on screen and in my private life” and also that “A women needs ropes and ropes of pearls”. One of her most iconic jewellery pieces, is her triple strand pearl necklace, with diamond swirl motif.
