Lockdown Love Stories: Roseanne & Jason Tie The Knot!

Roseanne Finnegan Wedding 2021

Like many couples getting married, Roseanne and Jason had to move their original wedding date, not once, but twice due to COVID-19 restrictions at the time. BUT, love always wins and they finally tied the knot at the beginning of the year.

Roseanne shares her #lockdownlovestory with us here...

Firstly, we must ask, how did you and your new husband meet?

“We met in 2015 in the Canal Court Hotel and we pretty much have been inseparable ever since.”

When and where did you and Jason get married?

“We were originally due to get married on the 14th November 2020 but we moved it twice due to Covid-19. So, on our third and final date we decided to go ahead with it regardless. We were married in St. James Chapel in Tandragee on the 16th January 2021 – almost 3 years to the date of our engagement (19.01.18) and my birthday.

“We originally had planned a reception in the Canal Court Hotel as that's where we met and I’m very sentimental about things like that, but due to the restrictions in Northern Ireland at the time, wedding receptions weren’t allowed. Instead, we decorated our own home to look like a mini venue for just myself and Jason.”

Tell us a little bit more about your special day and any suppliers that you would recommend...

“On the morning of the wedding it was probably a little more hectic than most bridal houses! My sister did all the makeup (she isn’t a makeup artist, she works in DV8 and I'm just very lucky to be blessed with someone who is that talented! I also did the bridal parties hair... including my own – again I’m not a hairdresser but needs must in the middle of a global pandemic).

“My dress was from Orchid Bridal in Portadown and my bridesmaid dresses were from ASOS. I had the most amazing bouquet and flower arrangements, thanks to Elaine from Ditsy Floral Design. My mum's dress was from Rosie’s Closet and we couldn't recommend them enough. They were just the nicest bunch of girls! It was also the first time I felt like a normal bride considering I didn't get a hen and there were just no celebrations of any kind. These girls made it feel like a breath of fresh air.

“Our photographers were from Angel Photography and again I cannot recommend these ladies highly enough! They were fantastic and so beyond understanding when it came to moving our wedding and last-minute tweaks due to Covid-19. They just made me feel how I was supposed to on the day. Which was the most beautiful gift from them. Plus, the images are outstanding... and my husband Jason loved that they captured the feel at his mum’s house on the day, as that's where he was getting ready.

“My wedding ring is from yourselves at Jack Murphy Jewellers. Again, everyone was just amazing and so helpful and considerate of our feelings… I cried talking about the stress of moving our wedding twice! I adore my wedding ring. The lady at Jack Murphy Jewellers just got it on the first go... she chose three rings to show me but when I mentioned I wanted something unique and different, she said a particular ring sprung to mind. IT WAS PERFECT!!! I had to have it.

“The suits were from McCartan Brothers in Newry. Again, so understanding and went the extra mile for us to get things sorted between lockdowns. The Canal Court Hotel were amazing to us also and all being well, we will be having our much-anticipated wedding reception in December. They also gave us exclusive use of the gardens at their sister hotel for our wedding photos.

Unity Cars is another supplier I would recommend! They had me walking up the aisle promptly at 12 noon. No being late for me… this wedding was already delayed twice! “Finally, the one person I couldn't recommend enough is Noelle at Room Angels NI… she decorated the front of our house, the living room and the stairs. I cried when I saw it, it was just so beautiful and she is the one who is doing the decor at our wedding reception later in the year also.”

What advice would you share with couples planning their wedding day during Covid?

“What we would say to all couples getting married during COVID-19 is to just go for it! You are marrying the love of your life and that's the most important thing. Love always wins.”
