Favourite Quote: “I love following Little Penny Thoughts on social media; Annette inspires me daily with her uplifting quotes and moving mantras so it’s hard for me to pick just one quote!”

How long have you worked with Jack Murphy Jewellers for? “I’ve grown up with Jack Murphy Jewellers as it’s been a part of my parent’s life for 50 years now!

“Whilst this was all I’d ever known, I decided to pave my own way after school and study Social Work in Manchester. Once I graduated, I returned home to a full-time job in the subject.

“In 2009, I wanted to invest more of my time in our family business and support our parents in continuing to grow Jack Murphy Jewellers in Newry. So, I officially joined the business part-time as a Sales Advisor – working in the showroom part-time whilst continuing my job in Social Work.

“The time finally came that I had to choose where I wanted to focus my attention, so in 2011, I changed career and became Manager having gained experience across all areas of the business prior to this.

“Thirteen years later, and now Partner, I can honestly say I’ve never been happier and prouder to be a part of this incredible business my parents built all those years ago.”

Describe a typical working day for you? “Honestly, no two days are ever the same but that’s what makes my job so interesting!

“My day can be as varied as hand-selecting loose diamonds to serving customers, and redesigning the interior of the showroom to travelling to International Trade Shows. You might have also noticed; I’ve appeared on an Instagram Reel or two!

“I’m also very focused on our business strategy and future proofing Jack Murphy Jewellers place on Hill Street.”

Favourite part of your job? “I love my job so it’s hard to pick my favourite part about it. However, it’s an honour and privilege to share in our customers milestone moments, often from one generation to the next which is a wonderful feeling.

“I’m also very lucky to work alongside an incredible team who have helped make Jack Murphy Jewellers what it is today.”

Finally, who inspires you? “It has to be my parents, Pat and Jack! They are both extremely hard-working and their passion for the jewellery industry and local community has inspired me to follow in their footsteps here at Jack Murphy Jewellers.

"Northern Ireland is full of so many amazing success stories that you don’t need to look too far to be inspired by the incredible talent, drive and compassion of the people here.”
